Wack Wack Golf and Country Club is considered as one of the oldest golf courses in the country. It was discovered in 1930 by an American named William J. Shaw. Since then, Wack Wack has been hosting the Philippines Golf Open Championships and the venue for many famous golf events including the World Cup.
William J. Shaw’s vision was to establish a golf club that will spread peace and equality among golfers of various races. This was initiated by Larry Montes, a sixteen-year-old boy who won the Philippine Open in 1926 but was not allowed to sit to the victory party because he was just a caddy.
The name Wack Wack came from the sound coming off from crows inhabiting the area where it was built.
Wack Wack is strategically located in the heart of Mandaluyong City, one of the most progressive cities in Metro Manila. This city has been one of the emerging centers of development and a site of progress in the country.
Wack Wack Golf and Country Club is divided into two courses – namely the West and East Course. The West Course is a par 70 and is usually played in by senior and female members of the country club. It is also smaller than the East Course and is much easier to play in. The East Course on the other hand, is big in area and is dotted with water hazards, elevated small greens and long fairways.
Wack Wack is also visited for their various facilities that cater their customers. They offer a driving range, a library and golf museum, changing rooms, gymnasium, dining area, 19th Hole Bar, tee houses, a swimming pool, massage rooms, pro shop, gift shop, and a foot spa hub.
This golf club is exclusively for members and outsiders can only enter once accompanied by a member.
